Foundation before Creation is the first 6-week class of an 18-week entrepreneurship course. The class takes the men on a journey of discovering their meaning in life. They are guided by a series of lists to identify what matters most in their life. This class is followed up with a course called Foundation to Creation, which teaches the men step-by-step how to set up their business correctly, and then build their business for generational success.

An evidence-based program that has been established for many years and taught in various prisons. Instead of reinventing the wheel, Felon Up, just decided to add experience, alongside the evidence. We accomplish this by utilizing previously incarcerated Fathers, led by John Gammon, to teach class and support the facility program efforts. Our long-term vision is to also assist in developing an “Incarcerated Fathering Guide” written by previously incarcerated fathers and their families.

Understanding credit is essential because it impacts multiple areas of life beyond just borrowing money. Good credit makes it easier to qualify for lower interest rates on loans, it can also influence job prospects, as some employers review credit reports as part of their hiring process. Similarly, landlords often check credit before renting out properties. Beyond personal finances, credit can serve as a vital tool for achieving larger financial goals, like starting a business or purchasing a home. In short, credit is a foundational piece of financial health that empowers individuals to make long-term plans and seize opportunities.

Unfortunately, credit is rarely taught. Which is why we designed a course to provide the basics to build a credit profile foundation for each participant.
