OUR MISSION

Our mission is to harness the talents, resources, and experiences of formerly incarcerated individuals to empower, guide, and encourage those still serving time.

WE BELIEVE

We believe the incarcerated individuals we serve hold the power to transform our communities. We believe, given the resources and opportunity, these individuals are the overlooked answer to helping reduce the crime and violence that is stealing so many of our youth. We believe it is a time for Felon’s to unite and step up to support our communities.

  • Next Steps

Next Steps is a program inside the Pendleton Juvenile. The program is designed to help the youth develop a reentry plan and provide them resources to support their success. The Staff has graciously asked Felon Up to partner with them on this program to develop a mentor component. Felon UP considers it an honor to sit with these young individuals each week, and are grateful to the Staff at Pendleton Juvenile for the opportunity.

  • Doing Time: Guiding Youth Sentenced as Adults

Felon Guide is a course unlike any in the Nation. In Indiana there are certain youth who commit crimes that cause them to be “direct filed” into the adult system. These young men range from the ages of 14-17. We work with the young men who have already been sentenced. These youth will be sent to prison after their 18th birthday, most with a sentence of over 50 years. Felon Guide is designed to come alongside of these young men teaching them about the adult facility, what to expect, how to be successful, and how to start their reentry from day one. Felon Guide is by far the hardest young men to serve, as you feel such a heaviness on these young men’s hearts. We are honored for the opportunity to serve them.

  • Foundation before Creation

Foundation before Creation is the first 6-week class of an 18-week entrepreneurship course. The class takes the men on a journey of discovering their meaning in life. They are guided by a series of lists to identify what matters most in their life. This class is followed up with a course called Foundation to Creation, which teaches the men step-by-step how to set up their business correctly, and then build their business for generational success.

  • Inside-Out Dad

An evidence-based program that has been established for many years and taught in various prisons. Instead of reinventing the wheel, Felon Up, just decided to add experience, alongside the evidence. We accomplish this by utilizing previously incarcerated Fathers to teach class and support the facility program efforts. Our long-term vision is to also assist in developing an “Incarcerated Fathering Guide” written by previously incarcerated fathers and their families.
